Nottingham High School is an HMC-accredited independent day school which caters for students from the age of four to 18.

Established in 1513 by Dame Agnes Mellers, its foundation deed was sealed by King Henry VIII.

After more than 500 years of teaching boys, it welcomed girls in 2015, to become a co-educational institution.

More than 20,000 pupils have been educated at the school, which lists former Defence Secretary Geoff Hoon, ex-Shadow Chancellor Ed Balls and former Chancellor of the Exchequer Ken Clarke among its alumni.

Our Work

As part of an ongoing refurbishment of its sporting facilities, we were appointed by Watt Energy Saver, of Retford, to install new HVAC equipment in the school’s indoor sports, gym and changing facilities.

Sport plays a big part of the school’s curriculum and its latest investment was all part of ensuring it can offer state of the art gym and coaching facilities to pupils.

It had existing ventilation running to changing rooms which had to be altered, along with existing air conditioning plant which needed to be renewed.

The Outcome

We took the old plant out and replaced it with new client-specified energy-efficient equipment, as well as altering the existing ductwork in the changing rooms.

We also installed an HVAC system in the school’s new gym, which is located on the newly-built upper floor of the building.

The end result means that pupils can participate in their sports in a cool and comfortable environment, which will hopefully have a positive impact on their performance and enjoyment levels.

"This was an extremely prestigious project to get involved with, as Nottingham High School is one of the most respected educational establishments in the country.

Although this install was pretty straightforward, we had to carry it out it in stages over a three-month period to ensure disruption was kept to a minimum and lessons and teaching time weren’t affected."
