Wyboston Lakes Resort is northern Europe’s largest privately-owned business and leisure destination.

Set in 380 acres of rural countryside at the edge of the historic market town of St. Neots, which is midway between Cambridge and Milton Keynes, the unique resort is 30 acres bigger than Hyde Park.

Established in 1983, founder Peter Hutchinson created the resort to form part of an already successful portfolio of businesses. It has achieved exponential growth year on year, and more than three decades on, the business continues to flourish and operate with input from three generations of the Hutchinson family.

It comprises a wide range of business and leisure facilities, including dedicated conference, training and meeting venues, a luxury spa, an AA rosette restaurant and bar, an 18-hole golf course with PGA-level instructors and floodlit driving range, health club and gym, corporate hospitality and wedding venue, and serviced offices.

The Willows Suite is an on-site hotel, which boasts 108 rooms and a bar, lounge and restaurant.

PCPM worked with leading commercial kitchen equipment supplier Fatboy’s Catering to help build and install an external chiller/freezer room.

Because of the layout and configuration of the building, the unit needed to be built outside and under an existing roof, and had to line up with the openings in the back wall of the kitchen, for the doors.

Our Managing Director, Peter Crown, said: “Wyboston Lakes is a huge resort with a global reputation, so it was great to be able to work on this project.

“While the build itself was pretty straightforward, the challenge for us was all about making sure that it fitted in with the design and layout of the existing building, particularly the roofline and doors, so everything lined up properly and provided the required access.

“By putting the coldrooms outside, they gained the space to increase the kitchen capacity.

“The equipment we installed was highly energy efficient and will hopefully help the venue to reduce its running costs over the long term.”
